NEWS/Can the Kristen Stewart-Robert Pattinson Romance Be Saved?

Why did Kristen Stewart issue a public apology if she's always tried to keep her relationship with Rob secret? Can Robsten be saved at this point?

Kristen Stewart's behavior over the past few weeks certainly has raised eyebrows. Yep, she's traditionally gone to great lengths to keep her relationship with Robert Pattinson private, only occasionally referred to "my f---ing boyfriend" in a magazine interview, or saying something oblique to the media about Rob's pants.
But then came the make-out session viewed 'round the world.
So what's going on in K. Stew's head? I, and others, have a likely theory.
"She doesn't belong in a committed relationship."
That's not me talking, that's an expert: Dr. Gilda Carle, relationship specialist and psychotherapist who works with celebrity clientele.
So where does Carle get her conclusion? Well, you can start with the nature of the actress's admitted cheating: a seemingly devil-may-care dalliance with her married director in broad daylight.
"She's 22 years old," Carle points out. "She's been in a committed relationship for 4 years—much too young to making a commitment. She's a child. She did this very public thing with director in order to be found out.
"It was self-sabotage."
As for why someone as successful as K.Stew would want to act against her own apparent best interests, well, making out in a car in front of a paparazzo certainly is one way to leave a lover.
"She did it so she could have an easy out" with Rob, Carle suggests. "But of course it wasn't thought through; she's very immature. She had no idea that this would be so transparent to everybody."
Even the actress's cheating partner, her married director Rupert Sanders, has significance, Carle tells me.
"It was important to her to know she was still attractive to other guys. But obviously Kristen isn't looking for a relationship right now, so she picks a guy who is married."
As my colleagues at E! Online have reported, it looks like Rob has left the Los Angeles-area home that he shares with his Twilight saga costar. Don't be shocked if the two of them try one last time for lasting romance, Carle predicts. After all, Stewart did make that public apology.
But, Carle says, "if Rob takes her back it will be more of the same."
"She was playing a role of a girlfriend who claimed that she was committed, but she wasn't committed," Carle insists. "She just needs to grow up."
Well, at least her apology was mature?

Robsten ❤

Kristen Stewart

Kristen Jaymes Stewart (born April 9, 1990) is an American actress. She is known for roles in films such as Panic Room, Zathura, In the Land of Women, Adventureland, Into the Wild, The Messengers and Twilight.

Early life

Stewart was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her father, John Stewart, is a stage manager and television producer who has worked for Fox. Her mother, Jules Mann-Stewart, is a script supervisor originally from Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia. She has an older brother, Cameron Stewart.Stewart attended school until the seventh grade, and then continued her education by correspondence. She has since completed high school.

Career

Stewart’s acting career began at the age of eight, after an agent saw her perform in her elementary school’s Christmas play. Stewart’s first role was a nonspeaking part in the movie The Thirteenth Year. Then, she had another part in the movie The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegasas the “ring toss girl”. She subsequently appeared in the independent film The Safety of Objects, in which she played the tomboy daughter of a troubled single mother (Patricia Clarkson). Stewart had a major role in the Hollywood film Panic Room, playing the sullen, diabeticdaughter of a divorced mother (Jodie Foster). The film received generally positive reviews, and Stewart garnered positive notices for her performance.
After Panic Room’s success, Stewart was cast in another thriller, Cold Creek Manor, playing the daughter of Dennis Quaid’s and Sharon Stone’s characters; the film generally failed at the box office. Her first starring role followed, in the children’s action-comedy Catch That Kid, opposite Max Thieriot and Corbin Bleu. Stewart also played the role of Lila in the thriller Undertow. To date, Stewart’s most critically acclaimed role may be in the television film Speak (2004), based on the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. Stewart, 13 at the time of filming, played high school freshman Melinda Sordino, who stops almost all verbal contact after being raped and who deals with enormous amounts of emotional turmoil. Stewart received great praise for playing the character, who had only a few speaking lines, but kept up a dark-witted commentary inside her head throughout the film.
In 2005, Stewart appeared in the fantasy-adventure film Zathura, playing the role of Lisa, the irresponsible older sister of two little boys, who turn their house into a spacecraft hurtling uncontrollably in outer space by playing a board game. The movie received praise by critics, but Stewart’s performance did not garner much media attention as it was noted that her character is immobilized during most of the movie. The following year, she played the character Maya in Fierce People, directed by Griffin Dunne. After that film, she received the lead role of Jess Solomon in the supernatural thriller movie The Messengers.
In 2007, Stewart appeared as teenager Lucy Hardwicke in In the Land of Women, a romantic drama starring Meg Ryan and The O.C. star Adam Brody. The movie, as well as Stewart’s performance, received mixed reviews. That same year, Stewart starred in Sean Penn’s critically acclaimed adaptation film Into the Wild. For her portrayal of Tracy — a teenage singer who has a crush on young adventurer Christopher McCandless — Stewart received generally positive reviews. Salon.com considered her work a “sturdy, sensitive performance”, and theChicago Tribune noted that she did “vividly well with a sketch of a role.” Her performance was not without detractors, however; Variety’s critic Dennis Harvey wrote, “It’s unclear whether Stewart means to be playing hippie-chick Tracy as vapid, or whether it just comes off that way.” After Into the Wild, Stewart had a cameo appearance in Jumper and also appeared inWhat Just Happened, which was released in October 2008. She also co-stars in The Cake Eaters and The Yellow Handkerchief, both independent films that have only been screened at film festivals.
On November 16, 2007, Summit Entertainment announced that Stewart would play Isabella “Bella” Swan in the movie Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling vampire romancenovel of the same name. Stewart was on the set of Adventureland when director Catherine Hardwicke visited her for an informal screen test which “captivated” the director. She stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen, her character’s vampire boyfriend. The film began production in February 2008 and finished filming in May 2008. Twilight was released domestically on November 21, 2008. After the release of Twilight, Kristen Stewart was awarded the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance for her portrayal as Bella Swan. Stewart will be reprising her role as Bella in the sequel, New Moon, in 2009. for the role, and hopes to be able to sing in the film.
Stewart will star in a movie called K-11 with Nikki Reed, also of Twilight, and Jason Mewes. The film, which is being directed by Stewart’s mother, takes place in a dorm of the Los Angeles County Jail, and will feature both Stewart and Reed as male characters. Stewart was also cast to portray Joan Jett in The Runaways, a biopic of the titular band from writer-director Floria Sigismondi. Stewart met with Jett over the 2008-2009 New Year to prepare for the role, and hopes to be able to sing in the film.

Personal life

Stewart currently lives in Woodland Hills in Los Angeles, California. In a 2008 interview with Vanity Fair, Stewart stated that she was dating actor Michael Angarano, her co-star from the movie Speak. Stewart has expressed a desire to live and work in Australia, saying, “I want to go to Sydney University in Australia. My mom’s from there.” Apart from acting, she is also interested in attending college in the near future, saying, “I want to go to college for literature. I want to be a writer. I mean, I love what I do, but it’s not all I want to do — be a professional liar for the rest of my life.” Stewart is a guitar player and singer.

Bella Swan

Bella Swan grew up in sunny Phoenix, Arizona with her mother Renee after her parents divorced. After her mother remarries, Bella goes to live with her dad Charlie in Forks, Washington and is faced with the challenge of making new friends. This isn't easy for her because she is incredibly shy and lacks confidence. Many guys at Bella's high school become attracted to her but she becomes intrigued by Edward Cullen who seems not to care for her. Bella's extreme clumsiness and attraction to danger comes in handy for Edward, which gives him the opportunity to constantly save her and become her hero. They fall deeply in love and Edward soon admits to Bella that he is a vampire. Bella doesn't seem to be fazed by his immortality, in fact she covets it.

The Cullen Family

Carlisle

Carlisle is the head and “father figure” of the family. He is about 350 years old, and originally from London. He is respected amongst the vampire world.
Back story: He is the son of a pastor, who was trained by his father to hunt supernatural creatures including vampires. One night he was bitten and left to die. Ashamed, he transformed secretly so that his father would not have to know. From the moment he turned he vowed that he would not succumb to the killing of humans. He’s only bitten his family member while they were humans to save their lives.

Esme

Esme is the matriarch of the family. She is married to Carlisle. She is passionate and loving.
Back story: After a failed suicide following the death of her child Carlisle found Esme and could not resist saving her. Once he turned her they fell in love and got married.
Special ability: Has an enormous passion for love.

Edward

Edward appears to be 17, but he’s really 108 years old.
Back story: He lost his family during the Influenza epidemic in 1918, but was saved by Carlisle after his mother brought him to the hospital. He becomes incredibly attracted to Bella Swan because her mind is the only one he cannot read. He also finds her blood so tempting it becomes impossible to resist.
Special ability: He can read minds, which is a great power when fighting adversaries.

Rosalie

Rosalie is one of the most beautiful vampires. She is married to Emmett and is the only Cullen who dislikes Bella. She envies Bella for being human. Although she is fierce and protective of the Cullen coven, she would rather be human.
Back story: Rosalie was born into a wealthy family. She was engaged to a wealthy young man whom she thought loved her. One night when she was walking home her rich fiancĂ© and his friends raped her and left her for dead. Carlisle found her on the road and turned her into a vampire. She never chose to become a vampire, and has an undead chip on her shoulder as a result. Three days after her transformation, she hunted down her rapists and killed them all, not even to drink their blood, the only humans she’s killed since.

Emmett

Emmett is the biggest of the bunch, and the most intimidating. He is married to Rosalie.
Back story: Emmett was hunting in the woods of Tennessee in 1935 when he was badly mauled by a bear. While hunting animals for food, Rosalie found Emmett carried him over 100 miles to Carlisle so that he could transform Emmett. Because Emmett is the newest vamp of the group, he has considerable difficulty controlling his temptations for human blood.

Alice

Alice is the most petite of the family. She is playful and caring, loves to shop and throw parties much to Bella’s dismay. Aside from Edward, Alice has the closest relationship to Bella. Alice uses her ability to see the future and help Bella when she is in danger. The two soon come to love each other like sisters.
Back story: Alice vaguely remembers being human. Her earliest memory is waking up as a vampire. Alice later finds out she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi and was committed into an asylum because she had premonitions. Alice was changed by a vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from James, a tracker vampire who was hunting her.
Special ability: Alice can see the future, an enhanced version of her ability to have premonitions as a human. She is only able to see the outcome of a decision once it is made. Due to this, decisions made in the spur of the moment cannot be foreseen.

Jasper

Jasper is older than most of the Cullen members having fought in the US Civil War at the age of 16. He is Alice’s partner and has great fighting skills and strength.
Back story: He was recruited by a vampire called Maria in 1863 to help her train young vampires into a private army to gain territory. As a result of his past and constant fighting, he finds it hard to resist the urge for human blood. Alice met Jasper in a diner in Philadelphia and together they sought out the Cullen family.
Special ability: As a human, he was extremely charismatic and this later enhanced his ability to control the emotions of those around him when he became a vampire.
